As a leading player in the Scottish salmon industry, The Scottish Salmon Company fully supports the Scottish Government’s progressive Food & Drink Policy, which recognises the links between food production, the environment and the health and wealth of our nation. We also respect the major role fish farming plays in the remote, rural and fragile communities of the West Coast and Hebrides in which the company operates. For these reasons, The Scottish Salmon Company is committed to environmental, economic and cultural sustainability. Throughout our farming operations, environmental sustainability of the local loch systems is a primary concern and we are committed to giving equal priority to the welfare of our farm stock and that of local wildlife. We pursue all industry best practice and work closely and collaboratively with local and national environmental interest groups, fisheries boards, animal welfare bodies, suppliers and customers to constantly monitor, review and improve our operations. This approach is closely aligned to our business strategy, which is built around a quality, ‘premium’ product for the domestic and a growing number of international customers. We aim to grow our business in a robust and sustainable way to ensure long-term stability and jobs for the communities in which we operate. With this comes a responsibility to help support and promote local culture, as well as health and wellbeing. To that end, the Company is committed to a Gaelic initiative, a number of local cultural and sports sponsorships and undertakes regular healthy eating workshops.
