Bio Security We continue to improve our stringent biological control and bio-security measures, which have directly resulted in an improvement in the performance of our stock. Careful fallowing regimes, in-house production of high quality smolt and good bio-security are the main contributors in achieving this position. The success of such measures has been recognised by the Crown Estate Award for Stewardship in 2009 and shortlisted for Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards 2010 for our Single Generation, Single Loch, Synchronised Fallow system which is in place at Loch Roag.
Feed We are committed to improving feed and nutrition and we employ our own environmental specialists to ensure that optimum conditions are maintained throughout our farm sites whilst our nutritionist works closely with the feed suppliers. The Scottish Salmon Company has implemented stringent bio-security measures which have helped to ensure good disease control measures throughout our operations. Careful fallowing regimes, in-house production of high quality smolt, appropriate vaccination, good bio-security and constant screening and monitoring have been the main contributors in achieving this position. The Company’s biology department, in conjunction with the largest specialist fish veterinary practice in Scotland, is tasked with maintaining the status quo.
Sustainability We recognise that sustainability and sound environmental stewardship are essential for the long-term development of the business. The Environmental Monitoring System is currently being developed and further development of this environmental focus and sustainability will ensure a unique selling point to the environmentally-focused market.
