Are you a strong communicator? Diplomatic and patient? Organised and supportive? Perhaps a job in Human Resources would suit you. Jennifer likes the variety her job gives her and learning new things every day.
Every day brings a new and exciting challenge in my role. This includes identifying ways to improve our current processes and procedures, supporting staff across the business with varying tasks such as organising training courses and supporting with recruitment activities.
Being able to work with other people is key. It’s also crucial that I have strong administrative and organisational skills as well as a good knowledge of the business. Being curious and inquisitive helps me to quickly learn and adapt to the environment I work within.
Prior to The Scottish Salmon Company I held numerous customer facing roles in restaurants, bars, telecommunications and retail. I then worked for Edinburgh Airport as a Security Officer before becoming a Security Compliance Advisor.
Within 2 months of joining I completed a Thomas International PPA (psychometric assessment) training course as well as Disciplinary and Grievance training with ACAS.
It’s hard to pick just one thing I love about this job. That said, it definitely includes the people I work with. The variety of tasks my role requires and the pride I feel from working for a Company committed to ensuring our staff have the necessary skills and training opportunities.
Once you start to learn about Aquaculture it is fascinating. The effort and complexity involved in supplying premium produce is impressive to say the least. From our broodstock programmes to processing, sales to nutrition, there is just so much to learn.
Stepping into Aquaculture is like stepping into a different world. If you are someone who enjoys working in a challenging, unpredictable environment, with huge growth potential, then Aquaculture and more specifically The Scottish Salmon Company could be for you.
