Net Cleaning
Remotely Operated Net Cleaners

Regular net cleaning is key to the success of our ‘cleaner fish’ deployment.  Clean nets mean our ‘cleaner fish’ don’t nibble seaweeds tangled on the outside of the pens but instead pick off sea lice, their natural prey.  Divers regularly inspect each net which, on average, are cleaned every ten days using mechanical net cleaners, Remotely Operated Net Cleaners (RONCs) and Flying Net Cleaners (FNC8's) which use mechanical arms and concentrated jets of water to dislodge weeds.
