Attracting locals and visitors alike to the town since 1886, the Brodick Highland Games is one of the highlights of the year for many.
Ormidale Park will play host to the annual Highland Dance competition, Heavy events, pipe band displays, Tug of War, athletics events, and the Local Heroes Strongman Competition featuring the ‘Stones of Density’.
Festivities will kick-off at 11am, and The Scottish Salmon Company will be in amongst the action, providing a day-long programme, including tastings and tips, foodie demos, competitions, and selling Scottish salmon in a
Wooley’s of Arran bun to raise money for a local charity chosen by SSC’s site team on Arran. Last year, proceeds raised from the salmon in a bun sales were donated to RDA Arran group, the island’s riding group for disabled children and adults.
During the Games families will also be tested on their physical and mental skills with fun activities at the SSC stand. There will be a ‘Deck Quoits’ challenge to test hand-eye coordination and the popular Guess the Weight of the salmon competition is set to return, with some Scottish Salmon up for grabs.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive at The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “We are proud to be involved with the Brodick Highland Games again this year and the team is looking forward to the day. The Games are a highpoint in the Isle of Arran community and there is something to offer the whole family, including our day-long programme at the SSC Food Truck with opportunities to try our Scottish Salmon.”
