The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) won three awards at the Highlands & Islands Food and Drink Awards recognising its achievements in exporting, innovation and new product development.
SSC was named winner of the Export Award and in the Innovation and New Product Award category for its Native Hebridean Salmon, at a ceremony in Inverness on Friday evening.
The Company was one of only 34 businesses to make the awards shortlist across 13 diverse categories.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive at The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “To win three awards is a fantastic achievement. We are very proud to have been recognised for our commitment not just to provenance and innovation, but in helping to grow the impact of Scotland’s food and drink industry around the world.
“To win in the New Product category for our Native Hebridean Salmon is particularly special for us as this strain has been developed through a breeding programme in the Hebrides and is truly unique in the marketplace.”
Native Hebridean Salmon has recently been introduced to the international market and has already garnered praise from the Federation of Chefs Scotland. SSC was also recognised in the Export category for developing its Label Rouge product range to the premium French market.
Delivered with support from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HiE), the Awards celebrate quality, innovation and growth in one of Scotland’s leading sectors. The awards showcase the diversity and excellence of the region’s food and drink industry, contributing to the reputation of Highlands & Islands as a world food destination.
