The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) will be headline sponsor for the Lochcarron Highland Games 2017.
Now in its 39th year, ‘The Friendly Games’, as they’re also known, will see hundreds of people descend on the grounds of Attadale Estate in Wester Ross in the North East of Scotland on Saturday 15 July. Game-goers will revel in the traditional mixture of heavy events, track and field, highland dancing and piping displays on offer.
SSC is a long-term supporter of the event, and has 60 sites located up and down the west coast of Scotland and the Hebrides, with a number of employees living locally. A team of volunteers from SSC will be on site to lend a helping hand to event organisers as they prepare for the Games. Spectators and competitors will also have the chance to sample some of SSC’s finest sea loch fresh Scottish salmon in the Food Tent.
This will be the fourth consecutive year SSC has sponsored the ‘Heavy events’ at the Lochcarron Highland Games but the first as headline sponsor. These events see some of the finest athletes from near and far test their strength, skill and competitive resolve in challenges such as hurling the hammer, throwing the shot putt, and the old favourite – tossing the caber. The Heavies competitors will not only be donning their kilts, but they will also be wearing t-shirts provided by The Scottish Salmon Company.
Craig Anderson, Chief Executive of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “We are proud to be supporting this year’s Lochcarron Highland Games for the fourth year in a row.
“The Games are a celebration of some of Scotland’s finest traditions. We are committed to playing an active role in the communities where we live and work and this event is particularly special as we have sites nearby. We wish all the competitors the best of luck and look forward to a great day.”
Maureen Brown, Chair of the Lochcarron Games Association, said: “The Scottish Salmon Company has been a supportive partner to the Lochcarron Games for a long time and it’s great to have them on board again this year as headline sponsor. Having a business with a local presence involved really fits the community spirit of the Games.
“The Lochcarron Games grows and gets better every year. We look forward to welcoming our friends from SSC as well as people from near and far when they join us on the 15 July.”
