The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC), Scotland’s leading producer of premium Scottish salmon, has been shortlisted in two categories at this year’s Business Insider Made in Scotland Awards.
After being named Exporter of the Year at last year’s event, SSC will compete for Food and Drink Company of the Year and Best New Product for its unique Native Hebridean Salmon which is farmed exclusively in the Hebrides.
The Made in Scotland Awards celebrate and champion the best and most innovative products designed, manufactured and produced in Scotland.
Welcoming the announcement, Craig Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of The Scottish Salmon Company, said: “To be shortlisted for Food and Drink Company of the Year is a real validation of our commitment to provenance and traceability. This underpins everything we do and ensures we continue to produce Scottish salmon of the highest quality.
“Being named Exporter of the Year in 2016 was a great achievement and we’re proud to be shortlisted again in two categories this year. We are hoping the judges will be impressed by our Native Hebridean Salmon which was launched to the international market last year to significant acclaim. This unique strain of salmon is born, reared and raised in the fresh cold waters of the Hebrides and is 100 per cent traceable to source – a truly Scottish product.”
The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre on Wednesday 19 April.
