Due to significant investment in the company, we are now looking to recruit a Marine Engineering technician. Reporting to the Engineering Manager North, you will provide a high standard of multi-skilled engineering service to the North Region sites including maintenance of plant, machinery and services to a safe and reliable standard. This will include but not limited to, Generators, Compressors, Blowers, Fish feed systems, Boat engines and general maintenance of sites and shore bases.

You will support the marine sites goals and objectives by working closely with the site managers under the coordination of the Marine Engineering Coordinator. You will help to develop Risk assessments and safe systems of work for the marine sites. The job role requires the creation of a Planned Preventative Maintenance schedule and use of our Pirana CMMS system. This position would possibly suit someone who is currently in a workshop environment and is looking for a field service role.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Monitoring and Recording – maintain and monitor plant equipment ensuring they are running at optimum and develop the site PPM structure for the pirana assets care system
• Compliance – ensure compliance of plant and equipment to current legislative standards such as: air receivers, lifting equipment, compressors, evaporators, fire-safety systems, PEE testing etc.
• Supervision and Support – organise, supervise and support on-site contractors to fulfil the site and production maintenance function and any site improvement projects
• Health & Safety and Housekeeping – perform all duties in a safe manner and as a team member, ensure a safe working environment exists for all employees on the site, actively keep all working areas clear and clean

Your Skills & Experience:

• Experience of working with electrical/mechanical systems
• Structured and practical engineering training e.g. apprenticeship/HNC
• Flexibility to provide cover for sites
• Knowledge and experience of generators, compressors, boat engines and electrical systems
• Knowledge of IT systems and CMMS systems
• Ability to work in a safe manner and considers the safety of others
• A strong team player as well as the ability to work on your own initiative
• Proven ability to work under pressure/to deadlines
• Aware of importance of environmental issues
• Background in marine engineering & mechanical plant would be an advantage
• Plant equipment and basic Electrical skills on LV systems
• Sound understanding of the importance of Health &Safety
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and to use initiative to resolve engineering issues
• Ability to prioritise to ensure efficient response to enquiries
• Ability to record issues and workload on the CMMS system is essential for the role
• Full UK Drivers Licence
